International Cooperation Department from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade visited CIWTO

On March 23, the International Cooperation Department from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) was invited to visit the institute for a discussion on bilateral cooperation. Director Zhang Xin and his team from CCPIT and all the professors from CIWTO participated in the discussion. The main objective of this discussion was to explore a long-term academic cooperation between two sides.

Professor Tu, the Dean of CIWTO, extended a warm welcome to the delegates from CCPIT and then introduced the brief history of the institute, its achievements, key research directions from the past years and expressed the aspiration on future cooperation. Director Zhang then affirmed the great possibility to collaborate as the International Cooperation Department of CCPIT has planned to conduct more in-depth research on the multilateral trading system and international economic and trade rules under the WTO framework. He also stated that the main research areas of CIWTO are very consistent with theirs in terms how China's participation in the negotiation of international trade could reflect the interests of the Chinese domestic industry.

The discussion ended with a strong affirmation that CIWTO and Internal Cooperation Department of CCPIT holds an extensive capacities for cooperation in many areas.  Lastly, Professor Tu encouraged professors from the Institute to actively work together to promote and strengthen this bilateral cooporation.
