On December 5th, Prof. Tu Xinquan gave a keynote speech virtually in a seminar themed  "UZBEKISTAN’S WTO ACCESSION: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES " organized by the WTO Chair in Uzbekistan. H.E. Sodyq SAFOEV, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Xiangchen ZHANG, WTO Deputy Director General, H.E. Ambassador Taeho LEE, Permanent Representative of Korea to the WTO and other representatives from the government, academic institutions in the region, and partner institutions were also invited to attend the seminar. Speakers addressed the critical issues involved in concluding the accession negotiations, including domestic processes, legislative actions, reforms, and capacity-building support during the accession process, as well as the key challenges that can be expected following the conclusion of Uzbekistan’s WTO accession and how to derive the benefits from its membership.
