From September 25 to 27, the Ministry of Commerce held a workshop on WTO rules of trade and environment with a focus on trade and environment at UIBE. Experts from the WTO Secretariat, Ms. Svetlana Chobanova and Mr. Daniel Ramos, gave lectures for the workshop. Li Fei, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, and Zhao Zhongxiu, President of UIBE, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. China Institute for WTO Studies provided support and assistance for the workshop. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Tu Xinquan, the WTO Chairholder and Dean of CIWTO. Ten specialized training sessions were fully participated and moderated by CIWTO professors, Li Siqi, Du Yingxin, and Qin Ruobing.

After the workshop, experts from the WTO Secretariat visited CIWTO to have a cordial exchange and discussion with our faculty and students, and to learn about the implementation of the WTO Chair Programme.

On the evening of September 28, by the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the WTO experts Mr. Daniel Ramos was invited to attend the CIWTO 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival Party, had a good time with over a hundred faculty and students from the institute, and got to know the Chinese traditional culture.

After the short yet inspiring workshop, experts from the WTO Secretariat expressed their gratitude on our organization, and highly recognized our institute's contribution to the WTO Chair Programme. They indicated that they would further strengthen the cooperation, aiming to produce even higher-quality outcomes in the future.
