The WTO 2023 Public Forum took place from 12 to 15 September at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The theme of this forum is "It is time for action". Associate Prof. Gao Yuan and Associate Prof. Li Xiaofan from CIWTO, WTO Chair at UIBE attended this public forum in Geneva, Switzerland.

The focus of this forum is on trade and environment-related issues, but also includes important topics such as trade and digital economy, trade and women's development, and trade in semiconductor products. The forum consisted of about 140 sub-forums, of which former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown delivered an important speech on the afternoon of the 12th and had a dialogue with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Associate Prof. Gao Yuan and Associate Prof. Li Xiaofan participated in relevant sub-forums on trade and green transformation, trade and sustainable development, and trade in services. They actively participated in discussions with other participants. This public forum helps Gao Yuan and Li Xiaofan know the frontier issues of current concern to the policy and academic research, and inspires subsequent relevant research in our institute.
