Prof. Tu Xinquan was invited by IMF to attend an academic symposium at the University of Tokyo
On April 4–5, the international academic conference "The State of Globalization," co-hosted by the IMF and the University of Tokyo, was held in Tokyo, Japan. Akihiko Yoshida, Director of the IMF Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, delivered the welcome remarks, and Atsushi Mimura, Vice Minister of Finance of Japan, gave the keynote speech.
More than 20 scholars from the IMF, the World Bank, the United States, the European Union, and Hong Kong SAR participated in the conference. Notable attendees included Prof. Barry Eichengreen, a renowned finance professor from the University of California Berkeley; Prof. Richard Baldwin from the Management Institute of Lausanne in Switzerland; Prof. Caroline Freund from the University of California San Diego; and Prof. Beatrice Weder di Mauro, President of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
The conference featured lively discussions on topics such as the future trends of globalization, global supply chains and geopolitics, industrial policies, and the global trading system. Professor Tu Xinquan was invited to attend the conference and spoke at the public forum titled "The Future of Globalization," where he shared his views on China's trade policy and its approach to the multilateral trading system, drawing considerable attention and positive feedback.
