CIWTO scholars attended the opening conference of the "Horizon Europe" project in Brussels

From 3rd to 5th December, 2023, Associate Professors Siqi Li and Xiaofan Li from our institute attended the opening conference of the "Transforming and Defending Multilateralism: European Union Support for more Robust, Effective and Democratic Global Governance" project. This event took place at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, Belgium. The project, funded by the European Union, represents a large-scale international collaboration involving multiple esteemed research institutions and universities from the European Union, the United States, China and Brazil. The lead institution for this project is Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Apart from contributing to the project as a whole, our institute has a specific focus on conducting research related to China and multilateralism.


During the opening conference, Associate Professors Siqi Li and Xiaofan Li engaged in discussions on a robust, efficient and democratic global governance system with other scholars, talking  about the prospect of global governance from China's perspective.



On the afternoon of 4th December, Associate Professor Siqi Li took part in the "Reviving Multilateralism" round-table discussion with other scholars from Europe, United States and Brazil. This round-table was organized by the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) that saw a wide attendance from European officials and scholars. Associate Professor Siqi Li shared her insights on the prospect of WTO reform and then had exchanges with the attendees.
