Recently, “The Joint WTO Elite Training Project of UIBE and the University of Bern", applied by CIWTO at the end of December last year, was approved by the China Scholarship Council as an international cooperative training project for innovative talents. In this application. UIBE selected and submitted a total of two projects, and the application from CIWTO stood out as the only UIBE’s proposal approved.

At present, the global trading system is facing great challenges, and the World Trade Organization is in a critical period of reform. The multilateral trading system is of extraordinary significance to China. As the backbone of international trade, China should shoulder the responsibility of maintaining the multilateral trading system.

CIWTO focuses on the research of international issues and international organizations, and cultivates international high-level talents. The WTO Elite Joint Training Project in cooperation with the University of Bern helps students to fully understand the operation of the WTO and the frontier issues, which can play a positive role in the training of national talent of this field.

The duration of the project is two years, from 2021 to 2023. Two outstanding students and one visiting scholar from CIWTO will be sent to study in WTI each year. The round-trip tickets and living expenses will be funded by the China Scholarship Council.
