Professor Ka Zeng from Department of political science of University of Arkansas gave an academic lecture on 'Domestic Politics and Sino-U.S. trade Dispute over Renewable Energy' to the faculty and students of CIWTO in room 607 on 23rd October. Participants of the lecture include Deputy Dean Xinquan Tu, Associate Professor Yang Li, Assistant Professor Bing Liu, Assistant Professor Yue Lu, Na Sun, Zhen Dai and all the postgraduate students.   Professor Zeng firstly introduced the dispute over renewable energy, especially solar photovoltaic industry, since 2005.She said that compared with that on industries like automobile and semiconductor, America put the biggest pressure on China in photovoltaic industry, while China compromised least. According to Game Theory, the results of international negotiations would be subjected to the negotiations between domestic interest group and government. By analyzing the case of dispute in solar photovoltaic industry, professor Zeng concluded that domestic politics influenced Sino-U.S’s trade dispute, and how to get a balance between Chinese government and market would be a long-term problem to the development of China's solar energy industry.   At last, professor Zeng answered the students’ questions, which was insightful for the research of Sino-U.S trade dispute. This lecture broadened all students' vision and enriched their knowledge on Sino-U.S dispute.   ( By Chen Yue, Liu Bo and Yue Lu )
