The counselor of WTO Market Access Division Wang Xiaodong was invited to deliver a lecture on “20 years of WTO” to our institute in the Conference Room 607 of Keyan Building at 10:00am on November 10. Professor TuXinquan, Dean of China institute for WTO studies, extended a warm welcome to Counselor Wang ‘s arrival .

In the first half of the lecture, Counselor Wang expressed his view on the problems of students' concern. He noted that although WTO has been experiencing downturns recently because of the impacts from increasingly emerging plurilateral trade agreements, we should have confidence in the WTO as its role in improving the world trading system, settling trade disputes and promoting the development of world trade is irreplaceable.

In the second half, Counselor Wang introduced the daily work of WTO and abundant details of the negotiations unknown to the outsiders based on his own experiences, which brought students an intuitive recept towards the operating mechanism of WTO. At the end of the lecture, Counselor Wang answered some questions from the teachers and students.

The wonderful lecture conveyed to us the latest progress of the WTO, deepened our understanding, and enhanced the ability of teachers and students to study the frontier issues of WTO.
