Lu Yue Invited to Give a Lecture at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law

In order to further strengthen the academic exchanges between CIWTO and other institutions in the aspect of global value chain, Lu Yue, a faculty member at CIWTO, gave a lecture with the theme of firm heterogeneity and global value chains on May 26 at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Qian Xuefeng, Dean of the School of Business Administration at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law School, hosted the event. Faculty members and students at the School of Business Administration attended the lecture.
In this lecture, Dr. Lu Yue's talk is mainly about the productivity effect of the global value chain embeddedness. The paper she presented focuses on the impact of global value chain participation on China's productivity, and the mechanisms though which Chinese companies' participation in global value chains affects the total factor productivity.

By examining the productivity improvement effect of global value chain embeddedness, the study provides helpful theoretical exploration to thoroughly understand the rationality and necessity of the "going out" strategy and to break through the dilemma of "low-end locking of value chain", which comes to a conclusion that participating in the global value chain can effectively improve enterprises' production efficiency.

After the lecture, Lu Yue had in-depth communication on topics of global value chain and low-end locking in developing countries with faculty members and students who attended the Lecture, and attentively answered the questions from them. Finally, Qian Xuefeng of Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics simply summarized the content of the lecture, and thanked Lu Yue again for her visit.
