In order to further strengthen the academic exchanges between CIWTO and other institutions in the aspect of global value chain, Lu Yue, a faculty member of CIWTO, gave a seminar on firm heterogeneity and global value chains at Hunan University on the afternoon of May 25. Professor Xie Rui at Hunan university hosted the event. Graduate students of the School of Economics and Trade at Hunan University participated in the seminar.

At the seminar, Dr. Lu Yue pointed out that the productivity effect of global value chain embeddedness is the of current international trade, but existing research lacks sufficient discussion on the incidence and mechanism. During the seminar, Dr. Lu Yue conducted in-depth discussion and communication on various issues including global value chains and China with faculty members and students present, and answered the students' questions on data and technical difficulties in measuring and calculating the degree of value chain embeddedness at the firm-level.
Finally, Professor Xie Rui at Hunan University summarized the contents of the seminar, and thanked Dr. Lu Yue again for her visit.
