On November 4, the WTO Chairholder in Nepal Kathmandu University Prof. Achyut Wagle visited CIWTO, met with our Nepalese alumna Sabina Gopali and gave a thought-provoking lecture on regional trade geopolitics. WTO Chairholder at UIBE Prof. Tu Xinquan warmly welcomed him and hosted the lecture. A diverse group of Chinese and international students from CIWTO attended the lecture.
The lecture, titled “Regional Trade Geopolitics: China and South Asia,” explored critical themes shaping trade relationships in the region. Prof. Wagle provided a detailed examination of China’s evolving role in South Asia, emphasizing the significance of fiscal federalism, economic integration, and collaborative policy efforts. His insights on the geopolitical factors influencing regional stability were especially enlightening, offering students a comprehensive view of how economic strategies affect development and cooperation.
Students left inspired by the depth of knowledge shared, gaining a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges that impact China-South Asia trade relations.
